Dry January 2026
We did it again, mostly! Ended Dry January a day early by having beers out at dinner last night. Benefits of going 30 days with no alcohol:
- Less day-to-day background anxiety and a quieter mind
- Better sleep
- Clearer head in the morning
- Less bloating
- Less of a beer gut
- Didn't feel torpedoed by drinking > More time to work on projects at night (like practicing playing keyboards)
- Saved money
- Discovered Blue Moon NA beer
Negatives:
- Occasionally missed the taste of real beer
- Ate more sugary/carby food in place of having alcohol
The month was way easier than I thought it would be and I didn't even feel like restarting drinking beer until a few days ago. I 10/10 recommend using Dry January to reclaim your body and your time after the gluttonous Christmas holidays and would do it all again, but I'm also glad to be able to drink beer again if I want to. I just think it'll be way less frequent now.
